The New 90!
Above are some shots from my current 90 Gallon Reef Tank which was set up in March of 2004. The tank is still young and has
a long way to go before it reaches the beauty that I ultimately hope it will display.
This time around, I went with a bare bottom tank to help keep the nutrients in the water as low as possible.
I am a firm believer that water quality, water movement, and quality lighting are all components of a succesful reef.
In order to achive that goal I utilize 2x250 SE Hamilton 14K MH bulbs with 3x110 VHO's. I use a mag 9.5 return pump on a Sea Swirl
coupled with 2 SEIO 820's and a 1500 and 3 modded MJ1200's on a wavemaker hammering the floor of the tank.
My skimmer is an AQUA C EV 120 powered by a mag 5. I use a Koralin Calcium reactor, and run a phosban reactor containing small amounts of phosban and carbon.
From time to time I will put a filter sock on the end of the return line and blow the rocks clean.
I believe also in excessive snail usage to keep the rocks clean. Astrea and Cerith are my preferred snails.
